TGN Energy, together with our partner Hitachi Energy Grid Edge Solutions is proud to announce the successful deployment and operation of a cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) located in Linköping, Sweden. This project marks a significant achievement in our ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and providing innovative services to the energy market.
The BESST Linköping project, which went live on August 8th, features a 6MW battery system that has already begun generating revenue by participating in the Swedish reserve market. This is a critical function in today’s energy landscape, where the ability to store and dispatch energy on demand plays a key role in stabilizing the grid and ensuring a reliable energy supply. The project not only highlights TGN Energy’s technological prowess but also showcases our ability to rapidly implement large-scale energy solutions.
A crucial aspect of this project’s success was the collaborative efforts between TGN, Hitachi Energy and 42 Energy, the owners of BESST Linköping. Their teams provided outstanding support throughout the development and deployment phases, contributing to what has been the fastest deployment of a battery system of this size in the Nordic region Hitachi Energy’s history. This collaboration underscores the importance of strong partnerships and our collective ability to drive innovation in the energy sector.
Core Technologies Powering the Project
The BESST Linköping project is powered by TGN Energy’s key technologies, including FlexControl and Aggregate, each playing a critical role in the system’s performance and reliability. You can read more about our products here.
For this project, Hitachi Energy Grid Edge Solutions provided a BESS utilizing its e-mesh Energy Storage™. This scalable energy storage solution is crafted to ensure dependable power availability, maintain grid stability, and maximize renewable energy penetration. It also features an intelligent control system suitable for both grid-connected and off-grid applications.
Looking Ahead
The successful deployment of the battery system in Linköping is a significant step forward for TGN Energy as we continue to expand our footprint in the energy storage market. Looking ahead, TGN Energy plans to leverage the success of the Linköping project to explore new opportunities in energy storage and grid management, as well as further collaborative projects with Hitachi Energy and 42 Energy.
